Apply for a Library Card
Card Eligibility:
Troy residents or property owners may get a library card with access to all Troy Public Library-owned material, and material owned by other Suburban Library Cooperative libraries. (Material from other SLC libraries will have to be picked up from the owning libraries.) Those who work or attend school in Troy may get a library card but will only be able to use Troy Library-owned material.
Residents of Suburban Library Cooperative communities have full privileges at the Troy Public Library but must go to their home library to obtain a card. These communities include:
Armada, Center Line, Chesterfield, Clinton Township, Eastpointe, Fraser, Harper Woods, Lenox Township, Macomb Township, Mount Clemens, New Baltimore, Ray Township, Richmond, Romeo, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Shelby Township, Sterling Heights, Utica and Warren
Residents of the following communities may get a Troy library card and access Troy Library-owned material:
Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Clarkston, Clawson, Commerce Township, Dearborn Heights, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Huntington Woods, Independence Township, Keego Harbor, Lake Orion, Lathrup Village, Madison Heights, Oakland Township, Orchard Lake, Orion Township, Ortonville, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, Southfield, St. Charles, Waterford, and West Bloomfield
If your city is not listed please call the Troy Public Library at 248-524-3538 to verify your eligibility.
Non-residents may purchase a card for $200.00 per year and receive full privileges at the Troy Public Library and the rest of the Suburban Library Cooperative libraries.
To verify your residence you must bring a valid Michigan Driver's License or State ID with your current address on it.
If you do not have this you must bring a photo ID/passport AND one of the following: home contract/purchase agreement, current property tax statement, or dated lease agreement.
The following are NOT sufficient: bank or credit card statement, check book with address, Post Office box, Voter Registration Card, or any other bills.
MichiCard patrons must present their home library card with a MichiCard sticker on it to qualify for a library card. Patrons of MichiCard libraries may check out print materials only.
To receive a library card, print the attachment below and return the completed form with proper identification to the Circulation Desk.
